I have been using my computer remotely via Orb lately since it gives me access to documents, pictures, music and other stuff on my home computer. The theory is that you have a portal page that your home computer connects to. It removes the need to open ports in your firewall, running remote desktop and having a large ammount of people trying to get into your home system.

Technically it seems to work with a secure link outbound and inbound which is enough security for casual access. I would not recomend it for company secrets but getting to the last wedding or vacation pictures from your inlaws computers works very well.

I did notice today that a remote upgrade isn’t a good plan so I probably won’t do that again no matter how much it asks me to.
